Colorado/Wyoming (from Sunday)

Yesterday's drive through Colorado was great. I was very excited to see some mountains again. I drove through the historic cities of Black Hawk and Golden. Camera is in the car so I owe you pictures.

The very minute I entered Wyoming, the sky turned from bright and sunny to overcast and snowy. This is not good for a sissy like me. Took a short safety break and decided to press on.
Not long after, I got a call from Shawn who works at camp. He was in Wyoming doing a presentation (less than 1/2 hour from where I was) and I was able to meet up with him at that church. It was nice to sit in on their youth group and enjoy great music and message. The pastor invited me to spend the night at his home. His wife served up some homemade lasagna and fresh baked bread - even shared the recipe with me - with peanut butter pie. I slept in a princessy bedroom and had little people toys to play with in the shower!
God is sooooo good the way He keeps blessing me and meeting my needs.

Looking forward to getting back to camp tonight.

Kansas (from Saturday)

Saturday started out in Kansas City, Missouri. I visited Crown Center which is where the Hallmark company is headquartered. They have a great visitor center/museum of their history.

KC is apparently known for their BBQ so I had a pile of pulled pork with potatoes for lunch.

In Topeka I saw the Brown vs. Board of Education National Historic Sight. This was one of the 1st schools to legally challenge segregation in the 1950s.

When in Kansas...think of OZ. Or, at least Wamusa where this OZ museum is located. There were some very fun and impressive displays.

Another part of Kansas has an actual brick road and replica of Dorothy's farm house, but that was way out of my way.

One block over was the Oz winery. They had free tastings : ) of some of their unique flavors: Witch in a Ditch, Run Toto Run, O.E.O, and Yellow Brick Road. I don't know much about wine but they sure were good!

There was also a beautiful park in town with a dutch windmill, playground, and this pond. There was a very nice small-town feel to the area. Nice place to visit, but I would not want to live there.

St. Louis (from Friday)

After Indiana, I decided (with much help from Denise) to head down to St. Louis.

First I had to pass through Illinois. There I visited a farm that Abraham Lincoln used to live on.

In St. Louis, I saw the arch which is known as "Gateway to the West". How appropriate for me to stop there on my way West! It was quite impressive. I took a tram ride to the top and there were some great views. Since it was a windy day I could actually feel the structure swaying a bit.

One of the tour books recommended trying Gooey Louie's award winning butter cake as a must-see/do/have in the area. They make about 20 flavors daily, and even close to closing time I was able to get one (okay, 2) fresh from the oven. These small ones are about 4" square and come packed with a tiny spoon. This reminds me that I still have one left to eat.

Heavy rains and scary lightning (I'm a sissy) brought the evening drive to an early end.

Indianapolis!

I have had a couple of days visiting my friend Lisa in Indiana. Yesterday we went on a walking tour of the downtown area. This is canal that runs through town, and a new friend we met along the way.

For supper we went to her brother's home. I had met and stayed with his family when I was here in November. It was nice that the children remembered me and were excited to have me back. We had a cookout and played some fun running around games. And I got to hold their new baby which is always a fun thing to do.

Sweet Family Time

I have been with the Huizings since Friday evening and am getting ready to pack up and head out this morning. It was a time full of love and laughter! Hard to say goodbye, but encouraged to have everyone pray for me this morning. What a blessing. Looking forward to the boys calling me after school.

A Delightful Day in Delaware

My road trip back to Montana has successfully begun!


I left NJ on Thursday morning, and enjoyed a beautiful ride out to Delaware. There I met up with my dear friend Cathy. For those of you who don't know, she is the woman who started the Bible club outreach (Son-Shine Club) where I was saved! So of course we have a lot of special history together. It was a sweet time of reminiscing and catching up. I was greatly blessed and encouraged by my time there.
